School of Law Scholarships

The School of Law has numerous scholarships which assist students who are studying to enter the profession of law. Generous support from alumni and friends have established these funds. Additional support to current funds or the creation of new funds is always welcome. Please contact the Office of Development for more information or make a online gift now.

Alan and Joyce Johnson Scholarship This scholarship was established by Alan and Joyce Johnson to support students at the Law School.
Albert Stephan, Jr. Memorial This fund for law students was established in memory of Judge Stephan, a 1957 graduate of the law school.
Alvin D. Hatten Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 2003 by the estate of Velma J. Hatten in memory of her husband Alvin D. Hatten (LW 17).
Bryan Cave Endowed Scholarship The scholarship provides funding to students at the School of Law.
Callis Scholarship Fund This scholarship fund will provide scholarship assistance to students enrolled in the Law School. It will fund ten full tuition scholarships for the 2005-2006 Law School class.
Carol A. McKaskel Scholarship The fund was established in 1993 by friends, colleagues and loved ones of Carol McKaskel, a law student, at the time of her death. The fund is restricted to needy law students.
Charles and Sally Weinstein Endowed Scholarship Sheldon Weinstein established this scholarship in honor of his parents. This scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the dean of the school of law to law students in good academic standing satisfying all requirements of full time enrollment.
Clare & William Reel Memorial Scholarshp This fund was established in 1987 by an anonymous donor in memory of William Reel, a 1921 graduate of the School of Law, and his wife, Clare. The scholarship is restricted to students in the Law School.
Daniel F Jr & Joan B Sheehan Scholarship The fund was established in 1990 by Daniel F. Sheehan Jr., a 1965 graduate of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to students in the Law School.
Daphne A. Carter Memorial Scholarship The scholarship was established in 1982 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Carter in memory of their daughter Daphne, a 1975 graduate of the Law School. The fund is for worthy students in the Law School.
de Graffenried Endowed Scholarship The fund was established in 1994 by Arthur M. de Graffenried III and his wife, Pilar, for Hispanic students in the School of Law. Mr. de Graffenried is a 1972 graduate of the School.
Donald Hilleary Scholarship This fund is awarded at the Dean's discretion to a law student in good ac ademic standing satisfying all requirements of full time enr ollment in the School of Law at SLU. This scholarship can be awarded to a first, second or third year student.
Donald J. Gunn, Sr. Scholarship Fund This fund provides scholarships for students at the School of Law.
Donald King Family Prize Endowment This scholarship was established in 1994 by Donald B. King, a 1979 Social Service graduate and professor in the Law School. The fund awards a prize to outstanding students in the Masters of Law for Foreign Students Program.
Eileen Camillo Cochran Scholarship The fund was established in 1989 by Brian D. Cochran in memory of his wife, Eileen, a 1975 graduate of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to students in the School.
Eileen Haughey Searls Irish Student Exchange Scholarship Fund This fund supports non-tuition expenses as transportation to and from Ireland, housing, books, fees and computer expenses.
Emil A. Strauss Scholarship The fund was established in 1947 by Flora S. Frank, sister to Emil Strauss. The scholarship is restricted to students in the Law School.
Everett Hullverson Award This fund was established in 1976 through the estate of Everett Hullverson to provide an annual award to the law student who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in trial practice or trial court work. Mr. Hullverson was a 1922 graduate of the Law School.
Francis H. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship The fund was established in 1988 by Mrs. Mary Allene Kennedy in memory of her husband, a 1922 graduate of the School of Law. The scholarship is restricted to law students.
Fred & Helen Whalen Scholarship This fund was established in 1981 by the late Fred Whalen, a 1930 graduate of the Law School, and his wife, Helen for law students.
Frederick W. Drakesmith Endowed Scholarship This scholarship fund awards at the Law School dean's discretion to a law student who demonstrates financial need and is in good academic standing. Additionally, the student should satisfy all requirements of full-time enrollment in the School of Law.
G. Michael Bauer Memorial Scholarship This scholarship goes to a law student in good academic standing satisfying all requirements of full time enrollment in the School of Law at Saint Louis University. This scholarship seeks to find recipients with an undergraduate degree from SLU.
Gaylord Foundation Scholarship This fund was established in 1983 by the Clifford Willard Gaylord Foundation for students in the School of Law.
George A & Martha Jensen Scholarship This fund was established in 1984 by Martha Jensen and her late husband, George, for students in the School of Law.
Hannah M White Scholarship This scholarship was established by the estate of Hannah M. White for the Law School. The fund supports scholarships for students in the top 15% of their class, with preference given to those with an interest in government or public service.
Harry L. Bell Endowed Scholarship This fund in memory of Harry Bell was established in 1988 by his wife Jane McCabe Bell, a 1955 Business School graduate, as well as other donors. Mr. Bell was a 1950 graduate of the Law School, and the scholarship is restricted to students in the School.
Irene Dulin Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established by various donors in 1994 in honor of Irene Dulin, a 1928 graduate of the Business School. The fund is for students in the Law School.
Irvin & Margaret W. Dagen Public Interest Law Fellowship This fund provided financial assistance for Law students who accept low paying or non-paying summer jobs that benefit the public good.
Irvin and Margaret W. Dagen Loan Fund This fund provides interest-free loans to students at the Law School for tuition, fees, room and board, and other essential edu- cational costs w/out regard to religion or lack thereof, sex or sexual orientation. Students must demonstrate financial need.
J.Norman & Elizabeth McDonough Scholarship This fund was established in 1994 by Elizabeth Langley McDonough in memory of her husband, a former Dean of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to law students.
John A. Marzall Scholarship This fund was established in 1985 by the estate of Catherine Marzall in memory of her husband, John, a 1925 graduate of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to students in the School.
John D. Valentine Endowed Scholarship This fund was established by John Valentine to benefit law students.
John F. Gleason Endowed Memorial Scholarship The John F. Gleason Fund will provide financial assistance for a law school student in the first, second or third year of law school. This fund was created by his classmates, Bert Cooper, Joe Bauer Jr. and Lisa Van Amburg to memorialize their friend and colleague.
Judge Noah Weinstein Foundation Scholars This fund provides financial support to a Law student who is working to support himself/herself through law school. The student should be making satisfactory progress toward their law degree.
Kate Gunn Scholarship Fund This fund was established in 1994 by Thomas M. Gunn, a 1967 graduate of the Law School and University trustee, and his wife, Kathleen. The scholarship is for law students, with preference given to those with learning or physical disabilities.
Knaup Family Law School Scholarship This fund provides scholarship to students at the School of Law that are American born, full time, graduated from a St. Louis area high school. The funds are be divided equally between men and women and are not restricted to first year students.
Law School Class of 1968 Endowed Scholarship Established in 2002 by Steve Lambright, Bob Ritter, Mike Gunn, Joe Weyhrich, Mary Beth Ortbals, and Jim Holloran to provide scholarships for students at the School of Law. Students can be in their first, second or third year.
Lawless Estate Law Scholarship Law students with a minimum 3.0 GPA qualify for this scholarship established in 1984 by the estate of 1938 Law School alumnus John Lawless.
M. R. Green Endowed Scholarship Fund This scholarship was established in 1984 by Margo L. Green, a 1981 Law School graduate, for minority law students with financial need
Madison County, IL Bar Association Scholarship This fund was established in 1994 by the Madison County and Tri City Bar Associations for law students who reside in Madison County, Illinois. Preference is given to needy students interested in providing legal services to the underprivileged.
Malcolm W. Martin Endowed Scholarship This fund was established in 1985 by Malcolm W. Martin for law students.
Mark D. Eagleton and Milton I. Goldstein Scholarship Fund This scholarship is restricted to needy students in the Law School.
Mary Ann Obenhaus Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is for students in the School of Law.
Mary Calnane Scholarship This fund was established in 1946 by Mary Calnane, a 1930 graduate of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to students in the Law School.
Mary Lou Clifford Endowed Scholarship This scholarship at the Law School was established by Frederick Z. Clifford in memory of his wife with awards going to qualified students who demonstrate a commitment to pro-life ideals & concerns.
Mel Friedman Research Fellowship This fund was established in 1988 by Mrs. Geri Friedman in memory of her husband, Mel, who was a 1948 graduate of the Law School. The fund provides a prize to a graduating senior who has demonstrated outstanding research in real estate law.
Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Q. Keefe Scholarship In 1986 the four sons of the Keefe family established this Law School scholarship in honor of their parents. The Keefe sons are all graduates of the Law School. They are: Thomas (1978), Robert (1979), James (1980) and Patrick (1988).
Paul Miller Law Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1987 by Paul Miller, a 1923 graduate of the Law School, and is intended for law students.
Polsinelli Shalton Welte Suelthaus Diversity Scholarship This scholarship fund should be used to provide student scholarships at the Law School. This fund is administered by the Financial Aid office. The mission of this fund is to help foster a diverse learning environment that is essential to the University's
Pre-Law Phi Alpha Delta Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1989 by the Pre-Law Club for Saint Louis University graduates who will enter the School of Law.
Rev James Danis Endowed Scholarship This fund was established by Mrs. Katherine Danis in memory of her son, a 1961 Arts graduate. The scholarship is restricted to students in the Law School.
Richard D. Hatton Memorial Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1979 by the Catholic Health Association in memory of Richard D. Hatton Jr., who had served as their general counsel for thirty years. Mr. Hatton was a 1935 graduate of the Law School.
Robert G. Dowd, Sr. Scholarship Fund This fund was established in 1991 by various donors. This fund makes an award possible for an outstanding second- or third-year law student who exhibits exceptional skills regarding trial and/or appellate advocacy.
Rosemary Bray Endowed Scholarship This fund was established in 1994 by John M. Bray, a 1962 Law School graduate and former University trustee, in honor of his mother. The scholarship is restricted to students in the School of Law.
Russell A & Betty A Grantham Scholarship This fund was established in 1984 by Russell A. Grantham, a 1950 graduate of the Law School, for financially needy law students.
Scott Scholarship Fund This fund was established in 1990 by the estate of Judge Michael J. Scott. The scholarship is in memory of Judge Scott, his mother, Elizabeth, and his brother Elmer. The scholarship is for law students with financial need.
T. Ellis & Alice H. Barnes Scholarship This fund was established by T. Ellis and Alice Barnes to provide scholarships both to law students and to undergraduate students throughout the University.
Theodore McMillian Endowed Scholarship This fund was established in 1999 by individuals, corporations, and foundations in honor of Judge McMillian, a 1942 Law School graduate. The fund provides scholarships and summer stipends for law students.
Thomas J. Boland Scholarship This fund was established in 1968 by friends of Joseph E. Boland, S.J. in memory of Thomas J. Boland, S.J. The scholarship is for law students.
Thomas J. White Scholarship Fund This fund was established in 1986 by the White Management Company for law students with a commitment to public service.
Thompson Coburn Endowed Scholarship Fund This scholarship benenfits students at the School of Law.
Vincent C. Immel Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1984 in honor of Professor Emeritus Vincent Immel. The fund is supported by friends and alumni of the Law School.
Vincent C. Immel Endowed Scholarship II This fund should be used for financial aid granted to students in the School of Law at Saint Louis University at the discretion of the law school financial aid office. Certain factors will be applied to determine the recipient: the potential to be a good
Wayne L. Millsap Endowed Scholarship This scholarship benefits law students, with preference given to recipients with history of public service, community service and/or military service.
White Family Fellowship This fund was established in 1979 by Thomas J. White, a 1940 graduate of the Law School. The scholarship is restricted to students in the School.
William E. & Mary Ann May Scholarship This fund was established in 1999 by Robert W. May for law students.
William E. Buckley Endowed Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1988 for students in the School of Law.
William E. Jaudes Memorial Endowed Scholarship This scholarship provides financial aid for students enrolled in Saint Louis University School of Law who have been recommended by two or more of their law professors and who are involved in community service.
William G. Marbury Endowed Scholarship This schoalrship was established in 1986 in memory of William Marbury, a 1937 graduate of the Law School, by the James McDonnell Foundation. The scholarship is for worthy but needy law students.
William Healy Scholarship Fund This fund was established in 1975 through the estate of Corine Healy in memory of her husband. The scholarship is for students in the School of Law without regard to financial need.
William L. Weiss Endowed Scholarship This fund was established in 1990 by the Dr. Eugene A. Hotfelder Trust for law students.
