December 2010 – Safety

Help Your Student Be a Responsible Billiken
The start of each new school year is full of new beginnings.  For our first-year students, there are many new experiences and temptations to navigate, but even returning students have a chance to reinvent themselves as they begin new classes and consider, or reconsider, how they will spend their time on campus.

Making positive lifestyle choices and choosing responsible college behavior are not only related to safety on campus, but also academically related decisions.  Integral components in college success include awareness of one’s own predominant learning style, practicing effective time management, selecting appropriate study skills, as well as the ability to think critically and self-assess when responding to assignments.  This newsletter provides valuable information to discuss with your student to help them be a responsible Billiken.

Parents Support SLU Cancer Center at Billiken 5K
Nearly 350 runners and walkers helped raise awareness of cancer by participating in the second annual Billiken 5K. The second annual walk/run, held on September 5, started at Chaifetz Arena, made two loops around SLU's beautiful Midtown campus before finishing the race at the Billiken statue in front of the arena.
